It’s a winter wonderland in the midst of London’s hectic Christmas crowds.

Dalloway Terrace is a beautiful little café and restaurant that has completely designed its interiors and exteriors to look like a winters dream – it just happens to also make the most warming hot chocolate too…

We stepped out on a Wednesday on a mission to get in a Christmasy mood in central London, and Dalloway Terrace sure did the trick.

We turned up without a reservation (despite the website stating they are all booked up) – but there’s nothing a little tweet and lucky visit can’t do. Luckily, we arrived and the place seemed near enough empty.

Don’t be deceived by its frosty interiors: blankets, cushions and hot water bottles galore are on offer her at the terrace, and we were pretty much roasting towards the end of our visit.

I was dying to try out the rest of the menu but I’ll have to save that for next time. Our hot chocolates had to do us for today – I guess the thick hot chocolate comes with a gingerbread men to nibble on if you do feel a bit peckish…

They have the most beautiful little florist pop-up shop outside too, which you just have to explore.

For Valentines weekend, we headed over to Cucina Asellina near Covent Garden for a mouth-watering feast…

This is a new restaurant that you will not want to miss. I began my Sunday evening with some pretty good (and strong) cocktails at Dirty Martini, with the gent.

He’d also booked us a table at a restaurant I had actually never heard of, but once stepping inside I couldn’t believe I had never visited before!

Cucina Asselina is a New York style Italian restaurant, with an amazing designer setting, but most importantly for me, amazing food.

The service is also pretty great, as soon as you walk in they take your coats for you and take you to your table. We had our booking at 4pm so it was kind of in between lunch and dinner, also making it pretty empty. So I’m not sure what it would be like at its busiest, but at this time, I cannot recommend it more.

The dishes are pretty small here, so be prepared to order quite a few dishes if you’re hungry and perhaps just share them to get a taster for everything.

We began with a seafood platter, sides with blue cheese dips, lobster ravioli, a margerita pizza and a rack of lamb. I would definitely recommend the ravioli and the lamb – aaaaamazing.

I would describe the food as a kind of rustic a la carte – which is right up my street. (aka great tasting, fancy food but not too poncey)

I have the biggest sweet tooth in the world so couldn’t resist the plum panacotta. There’s also another coffee-cocktail here that we ordered which you have to try! Speaking of coffee, their tiramisu was pretty spot on.
